GWO WINDA 10 Euro charge to add certs to data base

$

So sometime late October 2016

globalwindsafety.org

http://www.globalwindsafety.org/gwo

GWO WINDA decided to have a data base and 1 ID for candidates training record to show training competence and proof of certificates.

So that's what 5 certs required to pay 10GBP each Cert to be uploaded every 2 years to Winda to keep your WINDA Number valid with your certs.
for your basic GWO Training.

Actually 5 certs is the basic minimum some have many more certs than the basic 5 certs to show there training which are GWO based.

So I suppose that soon when working in this sector you will be asked for your WINDA ID to show the office proof of your certs.

Any Certs already taken can not be put into the system as well so basically they will take 2 years from October before operational and yet you will be asked for this WINDA ID.

Why is it that a non for profit organisation is not willing to let candidate's upload there certs they paid twice as much as OIL workers for into a data base with certified certs issued by approved Winda trainers with a certified number is it they just want to rip off more workers 10 GBP is been charged by course providers now for this cost for each course 2 of the course are only 3 hours long each.

GWO WINDA you are basically ripping of the user there has to be better ways of protecting your clients than taking from the worker.

Hello Spark.

Think the rot had set in a long time before the downturn in regards to users of this site.

Think that's why James and Gina were going to shut it down a couple of years back, before moving it on to someone else.

A lot of people had moved onto the ROV social media sites rather than this forum, but I think the demographic of those in the industry shifted substantially 5 or 6 years ago.

There doesn't seem to be as much 'community' as there used to be. People are less interested in the job and the equipment, or being good at it. As long as they can get their competancies signed before bob and tim who jioned the same time as them, then they're happy, even if they can't fly or fix the sub.

Of course 'anyone' can do this job according to the schools and manafacturers, so some of the less scrupulous companies and agencies are using 'anyone' - they're a lot cheaper.

Irony is that the clients are getting so pissed of with shite ROV people that they are now looking at other alternatives, such as ultra deep sat diving, AUVs, and 'remote operation'

A reasonable assessment I think.
On a more positive note, been getting a number of calls and emails about upcoming jobs, five or six this early in the year already, so hopefully things are looking up for 2017.
My best to everyone for 2017, and for the industry?, here's hoping we can get back to something like normality in the coming year.

International offshore company is looking for ROV technician.
You would control the ROV using equipment, from a ship, for tasks such as:
Inspecting underwater
Recording information on video
You would:
Maintain and repair the ROV equipment
Test the ROV to ensure it works correctly
‘Fly’ the ROV through the water to the right location
Operate the machine to complete its task
The ROV has cameras that video its journey and which enable you to see what you are doing as you manoeuvre it.

Once the operation is over you’d analyse the data and videos to ensure you’ve completed the task effectively.

Anyone had any issues with Waypoint Global? Been offered work through them but can't say I am impressed so far. I may be being over cautious after being robbed by an agency last year. Anyone got any views on this outfit?

Stay safe

Must say K2 there are a lot of dodgy things going on in the ROV industry at the moment ,, hearing of a few being ripped off even when working for some major operators
not just the fly by night agencies ..

were you one of the guys ripped off on the Rampion windfarm project ?

Seems everyone is out to fleece us by as much as they possibly can by any means possible. Superfluous offshore courses that are mandatory, travel rates, paying our own travel and expenses....... the list goes on. Obviously down to the man as to what they deem acceptable in return for work. No, I was not on a wind farm job when I was robbed. Basically got home and was told to accept a pay cut equating to 58% of contracted rate or receive nothing. Not going into detail of names and stuff so please don't ask.

Waypoint Global? Anyone?
