the use of slip rings on ROVs

We use mostly 3 phase 3kV/5-20A (occasionally up to 80A) for power, 1500V/1-2A for instrumentation supply etc., for simpler systems RS485 is sometimes used instead of fiber (requiring slip rings to manage some kHz without too much distortion).

They are paying Trainees $100 per day max and some of the permanent PTs are only getting $150 per day ,, they are losing staff weekly to other local companies that pay better and thats not saying much !!!!! and rely totally on agency people to keep going ,

Many of the local UAE citizens on the books dont actually work as they still get paid regardless and they are on much better rates .Than the others, syrians ,indians, egyptians etc

Not sure if the first job requires you to live in UAE or is it on a rotational basis but if its only $100 per day that is horrendously bad money , £60 a day shocking !

The other job would be fine if you lived locally to Aberdeen but also depends on the money , but no use to me.

Thanks for the info though

ROV pilot tech Trainee seeking first job

Well good luck Ilya. You join thousands of many others.

The training supplied by Subnet is not particularly well thought of and the "operational" hours done at the school equally doesn't really count for much.

I would suggest increasing your knowledge in hydraulics and fibre optics to assist your CV and make yourself even more employable.

ROV Pilot / Tech Required - ROTV Route Survey - May '14

Good afternoon everybody,

We are partnering with a leading Survey & Subsea Construction services company to put together a team of 2 ROV Pilot Techs for a 2-4 week project in April / May 2014 using an ROTV (Remotely Operated Towed Vehicle). Crew changes will either take place at the end of April 2014 or the start of May.

As the job is scheduled for a few months from now, I understand that it is difficult to commit (especially when the market will no doubt have picked up by then). However, this is a very good opportunity to secure a 2-4 week trip that, upon successful completion and strong performance, could result in further regular work on other projects with this client. Also, working on an ROTV will be a bit different to what you are most likely used to!

Project Summary is below:

Crew Change: End April / Start May
Duration: 2-4 weeks
Project: Route Survey
Sector: Offshore Finland / Offshore Sweden / Offshore Denmark
Vessel: Anchor Handling Vessel (Norwegian Flagged)
Vehicle: ROTV (Remotely Operated Towed Vehicle)
Desired Experience: *Any* ROTV experience or knowledge is desirable
Essential Experence: Proven history at ROV PT level (on Work Class or Obs Class ROV). Strong Piloting Skills (Route Survey / Cable Survey / Pipeline Survey experience would be preferable) and a solid Electrical Tech ability would be an advantage. Knowledge of Survey Equipment / Exposure to work as Survey Tech in past could also help (not essential, though)
Certs: Valid Offshore UK Medical & Survival / Valid Norwegian Medical / Valid Danish Medical

If you would like to find out more about this position, or be shortlisted for submission to the client, please call 0044 1726 86 22 16 or email wbest@atlasprofessionals.com / lstephenson@atlasprofessionals.com.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

New member & DeepOcean Questions..

Hi everyone, just joined up to the forum.

Was wondering if anyone had any info on DeepOcean as a company to work for?

I have an interview with them for a Pilot Trainee position.

Has anyone been through their training progran before? I take it all companies conform to an industry standard training program so at the end you get a qualification recognised by all companies?

Thanks!
