Hello James

Thanks for the reply mate.

Yeah I dont have much experience at all with Hydraulics but im very keen to get started with them!

Do you have any download files for basic hydraulics which I could relate to on an ROV or anybody else?

Also any information on where I can read up on basic ROV systems and general knowledge of the ROV industry?

That would be much appreciated.

I have of course been in to ROV onboard my ship and they havent really got much on it all.

Best regards

Steve,

If you look to the top left of the site you will find a search box... I searched for:

'Online Hydraulic course' and it pulled up the following threads:

www.rovworld.com/ftopict-91.html
www.rovworld.com/ftopict-215.html
www.rovworld.com/ftopict-2748.html
www.rovworld.com/ftopict-7457.html

Try any of the above and they should eventually lead you to a free online course that will help you out on the hydraulics side of things.

regards
James

I would recommend looking for any hydraulic courses which are done to national standards such as NVQ, SVQ, City & Guilds etc.

These are going to carry a LOT more weight on your CV than a course completion certificate by www.onlinehydraulicscourseforfree.com...

Unless all you want is personal knowledge.

Incompetent Agency Staff

I worked with quite a few of those in my time, the first being a Geordie lad with a bad mullet that managed to stick 17 turns on the tether (don't ask) when he was doing a basic GVI of a BOP. Then had a yank out in Africa that would take 6 hours filling out a DPR then spend the remaining 6 hours talking about how much he got paid. Then there was a guy that splits his time in Ghana/Devon that fucked the vehicle on the first dive and had the cheek to bail claiming he had only been contracted to work 2 days! Like a previous poster advised, best thing to do is make a sharp short call to the office.

Ask your Supervisor to show you his D32 / D33 then !! And Imca provide Guidance like the rest of there poor documents regarding Assessors.

So is the Trainee and your self and the Agency Supervisor on the same work class on the same shift?

And if he is the highest paid member your working for the wrong company.?

As you should have 3 other Supervisors there 1 being the most Senior.

No the agency guy isn't a supervisor, he's here as a pilot tech but he claims to have all the boxes ticked to be a supervisor. Thankfully, he's gone home today.

80% of agency staff I come across are useless. Trouble is, there's a shortage of guys so companies rely on agencies but agencies are not interested in whether guys are competent, they are only interested in making money. I know for sure that one company NRB'd a guy so the agency now just sends him elsewhere.

It's rare to see a full team of competent people these days. Its usually one guy carrying the rest.

Thanks Ray yes for some reason all the forms work fine on my computer but when you export them they no longer work .

There are other forms but he will also require a letter from his company or agency . After payment they should send you a cover note .

Ray have a look see if there was any other forms that come with that main application form . All I get here is that there main site is down for maintenance work .
