  • 10/09/14--13:03: Hallin Liquidated
  • 1.SINGAPORE/UK/INTERNATIONAL:
At earlier this week Hallin staff town-hall meeting,
parent company Superior has decided to give up on sale efforts and instead will close down and liquidate operation. Both Singapore and Aberdeen offices will close and staff have all been served redundancy notices. Some staff have already been let go with immediate effect. Hallin controlled vessels and assets will all be sold off. Sale of Altus Invictus (ex Kendal) is already thought in progress. Vessel is bareboat chartered to MEDS and that arrangement does include purchase option. Of other Hallin vessels only one – Windermere – is out-right owned. Ullswater is on sale and leaseback deal from Platou and Carlisle is on similar arrangement with Pareto. In theory Ullswater and Carlisle could just be returned to owning companies. By end this year Hallin is expected to be completely closed down and some staff are being retained to manage that shut down process. Hallin was still recently thought to be turning over $200 million per annum.
Superior has made no formal comment on decision.

Oooh aarrrrh! Farmers can weld, I'll have ye know (Sound more like a pirate, I know).

You will find generally that there is not oo much welding involved on ROV's these days, although it does depend on how far they have been dropped in the first place!
Most bits and pieces can be bolted on using Heath Robinson bracket techniques!

I was taught by a Pigeon how to weld, and you can spot my handywork all round the orld, especially on these latest generation Chinese ships that are coming into service Laughing

  • 10/13/14--21:06: Replacement Special Cables
  • It is becoming more apparent in recent years that replacing special cables associated with a particular product, such as a particular bespoke umbilical cable for an ROV, can be extremely expensive. With that in mind, we at Elmeridge Cables Limited can utilize our many years of experience and knowledge of cable design and manufacture to reproduce cables identically, down to the finest detail of the specifications. We also offer a 12-month call-off period, allowing customers to benefit from a lower price for a larger quantity, safe in the knowledge that there is always existing stock on the shelf, ready to be delivered when required with no long lead times. Furthermore, each batch is only invoiced when delivered, helping with cash flow. For more information about us and our products, please call Andy on +44(0)1273 391810, or email andy@elmeridge.com

  • 10/13/14--21:06: Hallin Liquidated
  • The owners loaded up the company with some heavy debts and poor cash flow,,, letting Hallin fold results in a nice corporate tax loss and asset sale which help their other companies .

The spelling Police are out Wink

BTW, I think you mean 'misspell' as opposed to the hahy-fuh-ney-tid 'mis-spell' Wink

I don't think you were after any suggestions, however after downloading and reading your document, I though you might wish to 'spell out' some of the acronyms, as I get the impression that this is aimed at newcomers.
They may not generally know what MIST is (unless of course you're from Scotland, in which case you'll be engulfed in it most of the time!).

It read well, and I hope you attract some business.

  • 10/16/14--22:20: Permanent ROV positions
  • Every other agency must be fishing then as they all have the same advert!
But it is rather vague? 😏

I've obviously been out of the ROV industry for too long, hope the advice is useful for trainees anyways!

Have you done the interview yet? It's most likely to be a competency interview but then again I'm not sure as it's been years since I was there.

If you would like training on competency interviews email me on Leanne.ross@firstimpressionsbylr.co.uk

    Good luck Very Happy
