Immigration Canada is very strict these days on allowing people into the country for residency purposes.
If you already have a legal right to live in Canada then there should be no problem.
As British Citizens it took us three years to obtain permanent residency through normal channels. It wasn't simple nor quick by any stretch of the imagination. Checks include verifying vocational and educational documentation and criminal checks.
I've seen (on TV) people (US & other nationalities) turned away for just having a DUI on record.
Some US citizens trying to head to Alaska have been prevented from entering Canada for similar reasons even though they state they only want to transit through Canada by road.

It's not an open door by any means..... so I wouldn't just rock up and hope to settle.

Thank you guys. This type of website is very common in IT world like http://stackoverflow.com for software developers. It has over a million users and so far nearly 8 million questions has been answered. Most of the time I found my problem has been solved by some one else. The website voting system works really well. The high voted answers are often more useful.

I think our community is not that big but imagine each one of you post a question or answer then we have at least a thousand lessons to learn. After few years I hope it will have enough q&a to cover common problems on frequently used rov systems so users can search answer for their problems. This website all depends on rov-er to make it become a helpful resource for rov community.

I'm trying to share 2-3 posts every week but my experience is only limited to seaeye and smd. Welcome everyone to raise question or answer about other systems.

Hi All,

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to get employed offshore Norway? / if they knew of any companies recruiting etc. I am looking at the likes of maintenance roles / mechanic / mech tech / engine room etc.

I have 4 years offshore experience and I have all my relevant qualifications etc. I am based in Scotland aswell. I know it is a hard place to get work but I do know that its not impossible at the same time.

Any help much appreciated.

Some of the UK agencies really dont know how to Implement the new HMRC rules ,, If you are non UK resident and not working in UK waters you are not liable for UK tax but some of the agencies are full of B/S other are lazy or ignorant .....going with Non UK agencies will shake the industry up they have dominated for too long at our expense
