REQUIREMENTS - ROV PT's and Supervisors

Job format is great and gets my vote Thumb Up

but.... this is still proving to be hard work isn't it?

Despite pointing you towards our guidelines you are still not adding enough contact information.

As a minimum please also add your name, company name and contact information or your post will be deleted.

Nowhere do we suggest that, by way of contact information, you simply supply a url to your LinkedIn profile on another website.

Just do what the other agencies have been doing for ages. They all comply quite happily. It's not hard is it?

Seatechs have also been spoken too, we will start with nice but if they don't listen then they may find we don't really need several Agencies ALL advertising the same jobs Smile

Seatechs have always been quite accommodating. I'm sure they'll do the right thing.

Rookie ROV/ Global ROV course

Hi Guy and girls,

I'm Andy and I'm new.
At the beginning of the year left the army where I was an Armourer/Inspection engineer, I was in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers (REME). I've used my resettlement to put myself through the ROV course in Portland with Global marine systems which was great! had a blast down there id recommend it to anyone!

Ive passed my BOSIET and my MIST (done through an Irish company Effective off shore) just about to go for my medical soon.

Im here basically to ask as many questions as I can to get some more information from the old and bold Smile my first being the one question that's probably asked by hundreds of wannabees.

"How do I get my foot in the door of the ROV world?"
"How do I land my first job?"

every job i see advertised seem to want supervisors or guys with hundreds of hours on there books? I have 7 Smile

well thanks for reading my dribble any information at all no matter how trivial will be received with open arms!

Ive attached my CV please feel free to tear it apart!

thanks in advance
Andy

Diving operations manager - Singapore based

Working with a subsea/offshore services provider here in Singapore I am seeking a diving operations manager who also has experience of ROV ops as well. Appreciative that this is an ROV forum, but chancing my luck, I am seeking a candidate ideally with experience of managing sat diving operations and a small number of ROVs. Regional experience is desired but not essential. My client offers a EPCI solution for projects valuing around US$20million traditionally focused in SURF projects. With anywhere between 50-200 staff offshore dependent on the projects, management of similar sized teams is desired. A Singapore based staff role I have been given a salary bracket of salary circa S$20-25,000/month. Please get in touch if interested: charlie.walford@hays.com.sg

Right,

If you are set up as a LTD Co, you can still claim the S.E.D IF you are on a vessle, is that correct? BUT you cannot claim anything if you are rig/installation based?????

When you set up a LTD Co, even as the owner of the Company you are employed by the Co so that covers one issue mentioned a bit earlier in this post.

The rest I am getting a handle on it, but it is a complete minefield and a lot of the loopholes that have been used in the past are being slammed firmly shut. Personally I blame google and Starbucks, tax avoiding tossers Smile

Job market competition

$

Hi,

I've been trawling through the forum looking for a particular subject that seems to offer mixed opinions all round.

One thing that puts me off committing to the ROV world is t he portrayal of the trainee pilot job market.

One side of this forum states that there is a large amount of rookies and potential rookies (various competency) all jostling for their first position.

The other side states that there is a need in the industry for trainees as ROV companies grow and roustabouts tend to hinder rather than help ROV crews.

My question needs an honest answer.

If I complete all my relevant training (plus a couple of extras to sweeten the CV) am I going to struggle for work while my family eat gruel for a year?

Rookies in any industry always suffer with the not-enough-experience/need-work-to-gain-experience paradox. The help proffered on this forum regarding CV writing and distribution is great and has been appreciated.
But are there enough jobs out there??!!

Signed:Yet another Forces Leaver potential ROV trainee. REME. Armourer.12yrs.

Roustabouts are rig crew, they don't have anything to do with the rov.

The simple answer is there are many peiople chasing few jobs. Rovs are one of many jobs offshore, its also worth looking at others too.

You will find people who get offered jobs straight away, you will find others who searched for years and got nowhere. At times it feels more like luck when someone gets a job.

Ahhh, ok. So, if set up as a LTD Co, you take a small salary, and the rest as dividends, which you pay personal tax on, right. Then you claim the SED back on that?

Does anyone leave money in the company account and have to pay the 20% Corp Tax. OR do you reduce that liability by paying into a pension, etc etc?

Or is Sole trader the better way to go.........

Anyway, got a sit down with my accountant tomorrow to sort all this crap out, will keep you updated.
